Each Masonic Lodge in Alberta supports a large number of charities and philanthropies within their own jurisdiction and throughout the Province of Alberta. These are just a few supported by Freemasons in Alberta.
The Masonic Higher Education Bursary Fund Instituted by the Grand Lodge of Alberta, A.F. & A.M. at its Annual Communication in June of 1957
The intent is to provide assistance students wishing to receive a higher education but lacking the ever increasing funds to do so.
Currently (each year) – 100 Bursaries of $2000.00 each are awarded to students in post-secondary Education in Alberta and the Northwest Territories.
Funding is obtained through donations from individual Freemasons, Masonic Clubs and Concordant Bodies, Memorial Donations and Bequests placed in Wills.
The Fund is a Registered Charitable Fund and receipts for Income Tax purposes are issued.
The day to day operating expenses of the fund are paid by the Grand Lodge of Alberta. No expenses are taken from the donations, memorials or bequests directed to the Fund.
Bursaries are awarded on a basis of need and proven scholastic ability.

The Masonic Foundation of Alberta Foundation was formed in principle as a result of resolutions passed at the 1989 and 1990 Grand Lodge of Alberta Communications and the formal organization and structure of the Foundation was brought about in 1991.
The two basic goals are:
To encourage, stimulate and assist financially, various Lodges that have identified particular charitable projects. It is the hope of the foundation that it can match financially the funds raised by the local Lodge for a specific registered charity.
To identify worthy charitable projects that can be funded directly by the Foundation. These projects, which are focused upon helping young people, can either be long term or short term.
The Lauraine Douchet Masonic Bursary for Pharmacy and Medicine
Bursary for students who are accepted in a four year Pharmacy degree program at an accredited institution in Alberta or for students who are accepted in a three or four year Medical Doctor, MD, degree program at an accredited institution in Alberta.
Currently provides two bursaries in the amount of $7000.00.
Bursaries are awarded on a basis of need.

The Scottish Rite Charitable Foundation Learning Centre in Calgary and Edmonton for Children Identified with Dyslexia
The SRCF Learning Centre tutors children with learning disabilities caused by dyslexia using the proven Orton-Gillingham method at NO COST to the family.
